Storm In A Teacup / Hg2 MUST-VISIT

If the English are to be believed, a cuppa tea is the best way to sort out all of life’s woes; from break-ups to deaths, everything can be cured if you just put the kettle on. And nobody knows this better than the Sanctum Soho hotel, which will be hosting Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea from the beginning of October. Available from 2-6pm each day, the tea comes with a selection of hot and cold dishes – including beef and horseradish served in mini Yorkshire puddings – as well as a silver tankard of Jack Daniel’s and a cigar on the side to be smoked on the roof garden afterwards. Puddings, meanwhile, comprise comfort food classics such as chocolate fudge cake with decadent whiskey ice-cream – just what the doctor ordered to cheer up even the gloomiest media exec on a dreary Monday afternoon. While the afternoon tea certainly doesn’t come cheap at £50 a pop, we think it’s worth every penny. After all, a cuppa tea in a caf is hardly the same, is it?
