Rooftop restaurants seem to be Aleppo’s thing, and Green Roof doesn’t let the city down. Ping up in the lift and you’ll find a temple to fine dining, with slate clad to the walls and a shiny glass viewing window from which diners can admire the sweeping panorama that spreads out before them. Sundowner in-hand, dusk really is something to behold here. Seated in dark chocolate chairs jammed up against tables covered by crisp white tablecloths, diners are treated to delectable vegetarian food of the highest standard. Service is as soft as the decor, with the waiting staff more than happy to explain the various dishes on offer – all with a smile. A solid wine list wraps things up nicely, with a particularly nice selection of regional reds.
