French Connection / Hg2 MUST-EAT

Not content with their current crop of covetable restaurants – including the much-loved Arbutus and Wild Honey, no less – Michelin-starred chefs Anthony Demetre and Will Smith have added another to their ever-expanding fold. Now open in the heart of theatreland on William IV Street, Les Deux Salons is the perfect place for pre- or post-show nibbles. The simple charm of the spacious two-floor restaurant is courtesy of designer Martin Brudnizki, and evokes the feel of a Parisian brasserie with antique mirrors hanging on walls and banquettes flanking the floor. It goes without saying that the food is delicious, with dishes like snail and bacon pie, saddle of rabbit with pumpkin gnocchi, and potato and curly kale soup, not to mention the wide selection of classic French desserts. And with the average spend being just £18.50 per head, there’s no reason to feel guilty after one too many visits. Unless you indulge in too many calories each time, of course.
