On Your Bike, Boris / NEWS HUNGRY

Feeling a little adventurous this morning, Hg2 decided to get up and on – a Boris bike, that is. Yes, for one day only we decided to give the driver the day off and test out mayor Boris Johnson’s new scheme for cycle hire in our cool capital. So how does it work? Essentially, you pick up a cycle from one of the docking points scattered around London, ride it where the heck you like, then return it (anywhere) ready for the next person. It’s also available 24-hours a day with no booking necessary, so it’s perfect for those stranded by pesky Tube strikes (of which there are many). What’s more, journeys under 30 minutes are free – meaning it’s the most cost-effective way of getting from A to B without using your legs, ideal for the hedonists amongst you. At the moment you need to register and prepay online, but in the future you’ll be able to walk up, pay on the spot and ride – just the way Boris intended.
