Hyatt has announced plans to throw open the doors of a shiny new Park Hyatt property in New York, and the details are enough to get any hotel connoisseur hot under the collar. To be designed by Pritzker Prize-winner Christian de Portzamparc, the hotel is being built across from Carnegie Hall at 157 West 57th Street and is set to become the brand’s flagship property when it opens in 2012. Inside will be 210 extremely well-appointed rooms, as well as a restaurant, bar, spa and 5,000-square-foot retail space. The hotel’s crowning glory, however, will be the indoor pool located in a three-storey aerie at the top of the tower. We, for one, can’t wait to check in and check it out.
