Posion Ivy / NEWS HUNGRY

The Ivy is as intrinsic to London as black cabs and Buckingham Palace. Owned by Caprice Holdings, the legendary restaurant – located just a designer-heeled stroll away from Covent Garden and Theatreland – has seen a slew of celebrities and superstars pass through its doors since it opened 20 years ago. 20 years ago, in fact, this week. Which is why the elegant eatery is celebrating its anniversary in style, and quite rightly so. Every night this week diners will be treated to a performance of Heavenly Ivy – a show written by famous playwright Sir Ronald Harwood – while they eat. While The Ivy is usually regarded as one of the best places to eat pre- or post-theatre, the play cuts out the middle man and brings all the action of the stage direct to the restaurant. We couldn’t think of a better excuse to revisit an old classic on London’s ever-changing culinary scene (as if we needed one – which we don’t).
