Eastern Promise / Hg2 OPENING OF THE WEEK

Opening in London on 26th November is ORA, a new Thai restaurant tucked away behind Oxford Street. With room for 90 covers, the restaurant features plush banquette seating, a centrepiece table with room for 20 and a 30-seat lounge bar manned by Ivanic Branislav (formerly of the Soho Hotel and Quaglino’s). Head chef Tamas Khan has been plucked from Busaba Eathai to serve up a mouthwatering menu of Thai favourites alongside less known delicacies such as Taub Yeng, made up of grilled foie gras served with homemade dip and a mixed herb salad. As you can imagine, the design is in keeping with Eastern aesthetics with hot flashes of pink set against a subdued backdrop of greys and slates. Providing the perfect shopping pitstop, this is one Thai we won’t be passing by.
