Airplane food is notoriously nasty, which is why an increasing number of carriers are enlisting the help of culinary superstars to get their passengers tucking in. Such is the case at Netherlands-based operator KLM, which has hired renowned Dutch chef Jonnie Boer to turn things around. His restaurant, Restaurant de Librije, is ranked among the best in the world, and will certainly stand him in good stead for the challenge ahead. The menu will comprise decadent Dutch fare, and will be served to business class travellers only. The wine, meanwhile, will be selected by his wife, Therese, and everything will by served on tableware created by famed Dutch designer Marcel Wanders. The Golden Age of air travel, it seems, is making a return for 2011.
