Spice Things Up / NEWS HUNGRY

Hurrah! After months of hush-hush secrecy, W London – arguably the capital’s most anticipated hotel opening in recent years – has revealed that culinary superstar Jean-Georges Vongerichten of New York‘s Spice Market will be bringing a sister venue to the property. Inspired by the street cooking of South East Asia, hotel guests and outside visitors can expect a menu of bold flavours served up with exotic flair; signature dishes include spiced chicken samosa with coriander yoghurt, cod with Malaysian chilli sauce and Thai basil and ovaltine kulfi. The interiors, meanwhile, have been decked out by Amsterdam-based design firm Concrete and reflect both the old-world style at Spice Market NY and the contemporary architecture of the shiny new W building at Leicester Square. Glittering gold abounds across two fabulous floors, with room for 70 up and 80 down; an open kitchen, sushi bar and appropriately stylish watering hole finish things off rather nicely. Opens February 2011, alongside the hotel.
