We love Israeli chef Yotam Ottolenghi. Not only because he owns and runs the eponymous Ottolenghi chain, which serves bite-sized health food across four always-busy delis, but because he’s gone and opened up another stand-alone venue at 21-22 Warwick Street. Called Nopi – short for ‘North of Piccadilly’ – the sit-down Soho venture may require a reservation but by the looks of things, it’s worth it. The food is what we’ve come to expect from the masterful man behind the menu; typical Ottolenghi attire abounds throughout each plate, with a heavy focus on Middle Eastern and Asian dishes. Particularly exciting is the twice-cooked baby chicken with lemon myrtle salt and red pepper sauce, as well as the grilled lamb cutlets with spicy aubergine and mountain ash goat’s cheese. As always, diners are encouraged to order a selection of items and share. Though we’re the first to admit, with food this good we’re inclined not to.
