Switched Off / NEWS HUNGRY

While we can all do our little bit for climate change, it’s nice to see entire cities doing their bit, too. Case in point is Earth Hour, which is headed up by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) and takes place on the last Saturday in March. For a whole hour non-essential lights are switched off across the globe, plunging city landmarks and their surroundings in darkness to raise awareness for climate change. Even YouTube took part in the event, which took place this year on 26th March, by adding an on/off feature next to the title of each video to enable users to change the background from white to black. While the hour-long blackout is indeed a good start, Earth Hour also encourages people to make a change to their power usage that goes beyond 60 minutes.
