Turn Of The Century In Soho / Hg2 MUST-EAT

Hear ye, hear ye! For the first time, the coveted doors to the private members club, Century, will open to the public in celebration of its tenth anniversary, letting us in on one of Soho’s best-kept secrets. Behind a discreet doorway far from the maddening crowd of Shaftsbury Avenue lies the new Century Brasserie, conceived by Pierre and Kathy Condou as a space for casual lunches and intimate, candlelit dinners. Succulent grilled fish and exquisite rare breed meats from the wood-burning stove grace the classic brasserie-style menu created by head chef Graham Thompson, which focuses on simply prepared organic- and GM-free dishes. High ceilings and large windows lend a grandeur to the space that is tempered by the simplicity of its design and comfortable atmosphere. If you find yourself wandering aimlessly before a West End show in need of sustenance, nip into the Century Brasserie to sample one of the pre-theatre prix-fixe menus, sip a glass of full-bodied red, and allow yourself to relax and unwind. Although the upper floors remain strictly members-only, one cannot help but feel privileged by the delectable delights of this new gem.
