Beach Chic / Hg2 MUST-EAT

Summer is nearly upon us in London Town, despite gloomy reports that the sun is soon to descend behind thick black rainclouds before the weekend. That said, there’s still reason to smile behind your shades; this April sees the relaunch of pop-up restaurant The Summerhouse on the idyllic bank of Little Venice Canal. Open for seven months opposite 60 Blomfield Road until the end of October, the here-today-gone-tomorrow eatery will once again be serving up lipsmackingly good seafood in a space styled on a Hamptons beach house. Think light and airy interiors with whitewashed wood, blue and white stripes and crisp white tablecloths. The menu is perfect for long, booze-soaked lunches, with plates such as spiced yellow fin tuna carpaccio, salmon and haddock fish cakes and the signature fish pie with salmon, prawns, cod, haddock and fresh summer herbs. We recommend washing it all down with a strawberry and basil mojito, made from plump organic strawberries, basil, mint and strawberry-infused vodka. Just don’t veer too close to the water afterwards, or you could find yourself sinking straight to the bottom.
