Man Power / Hg2 MUST-SPA

While it may no longer be the era of the metrosexual, with the trend for girly men slowly subsiding and rough ‘n’ ready very much back in, the remnants of male vanity remains in the form of dedicated man spas across the globe. Case in point is HOMMAGE, which has a number of men-only outposts around the world. Its latest offering is a spa in New York by Julien Farel,  hairstylist-to-the-stars and all-round God when it comes to grooming and looking good. Having opened on 4th April, the spa is set in a chic penthouse on Madison Avenue (where else?) and is a masculine space in which celebrity fans such as Huge Jackman and Daniel Craig can rest, relax and rejuvenate. The interiors are no-frills and ridiculously high-end, with chairs styled on first-class airline seats and artwork curated by the Lincoln Center Vera Art List Program. Discerning gents are welcomed through the doors with a single-malt scotch, complimentary shoe-buffing and freebie jacket steaming; away from the busy Manhattan streets below, they can choose between treatments on an extensive menu with each tailored specifically towards individuals. Highly recommended is the Essential Shave, which comes with an accompanying facial and hand massage that targets the aching associated with the overuse of BlackBerries. So set aside an hour or two of you time when you’re next in town, and leave feeling ready to take on the world. Or at least your wife.
