By Numbers / NEWS HUNGRY

Restaurants are pretty much our life here at Hg2, which is why we were honoured to be invited to The S Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards ceremony in London last week. Voted number one for the second year running was Copenhagen-based Noma (pictured above), with head chef Rene Redzepi serving up Nordic cuisine in a converted 18th-century warehouse. In second and third place were two Spanish restaurants; El Cellar de Can Roca in Girona and Mugaritz in San Sebastián. The rest of the list is predominantly European, while there are new entries in China, Peru and Russia. Compiled by more than 800 industry experts, the annual list is hugely-respected and influential, and we can’t wait to eat our way through the entries over the next year – from 1 right through to 50.
