Mother’s Ruin / Hg2 MUST-DRINK

Opening this April in Shoreditch is The Worship Street Whistling Shop, a Victorian-inspired bar dedicated to molecular mixology. Born from the liquid-focused minds at Fluid Movement – the same team that brought bar propper-uppers Purl in Marylebone – this new drinking den will offer a fresh, 21st-century update on a 1920s gin palace, arguably London’s most innovative cocktail era. The interiors will match the magic behind the bar, with two private dining areas decked out with Victorian curiosities and a space styled on an 18th-century dram shop replete with authentic period gin bottles. Heading up the pioneering cocktail menu will be Ryan Chetiyawardana whose Victorian-inspired concepts include the likes of Gin Fizz fermented with Champagne yeast and a clever reinterpretation of the classic Cream Gin. Sure to be any mother’s ruin! The Whistling Shop has also partnered up with the Oyster Boys to offer a full lunch menu and grazing dishes for the evening, with period plates such as suckling pig and rabbit hot pot to line stomachs. Though let’s face it, you’ll be going for replenishment of the liquid variety.
