On Thin Ice / Hg2 MUST-DRINK

Summer is nearly upon us here in London Town, and what better way to celebrate than to pop open a bottle of something suitably bubbly and toast the good weather? And that’s exactly what we did last night, when we were invited to the launch of Moët Ice Impérial by Moët & Chandon. A radical new way to enjoy Champagne, it’s the world’s first bubbly specifically designed to be served over ice; using meticulously-selected base wines to create a concentrated, intense cuvée that is freshened to perfection by the addition of ice-cubes, chef de cave Benoît Gouez  has created a radical tipple indeed. And it’s a tipple that goes down oh-so well in the sun, we assure you. Best served with three or four large cubes in a large Chianti-style wine glass, the new variety is sure to be a hit in gardens across the globe this summer. We’ve already got a stash stocked in the fridge at Hg2 HQ.
