Tree Of Life / NEWS HUNGY

One of our favourite Parisian hotels, The Plaza Athénée, has announced plans for a stylish Sound Tree installation to coincide with the Haute Couture fashion shows this month. Conceived to dress up the hotel’s Plaza Bar, the installation is the brainchild of designers Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman for high-end speaker-maker Elipson; the ‘branches’ are made from cables — spreading out from the base to the ceiling — while the fruit they bear are the brand’s spherical Planet speakers and the ‘trunk’ contains the subwoofer. Standing proud in the Patrick Jouin-designed bar until the FIAC contemporary Art Fair in October, standing beneath it is sure to inspire a sense of awe and amazement. And if nothing else, it’s something trippy to look at after one too many expertly-made cocktails at the bar.
